FitPartum Spotlight: Annie Kerry

Hi! I am Annie Kerry. I am 5 months post partum with my second baby. I am a NICU nurse who was feeling very frustrated after my baby was born. After my c-section, I felt like I didn’t have any where to turn to help me recover and get back into exercising safely, properly & regularly. I then found FitPartum™ and those frustrations all changed!

I had no idea going into FitPartum that I was going to get out of it what I did. After having my second baby and healing from my c section, as well as having a toddler, I was having trouble with simple daily movements like getting up from the floor and leaking!  I then reached out to Kellie for an appointment. I was expecting a few pelvic floor physical therapy appointments that would teach me proper technique in simple exercises to ease my way back into exercises. But I got so much more than that! I have not only learned so much about the intricacies of c section recovery and the delicate balance that is needed for proper healing, but also about ways to get back into normal activities of daily living and exercise in a safe manner, especially with two kids under two years old!

I did 4 sessions with Kellie to work on my pelvic floor and then 8 sessions with Ally to help me get back into exercise the safe and proper way. We had a step by step plan that had be progressing exercises each week and slowly implementing heavier weights, low impact, etc. I realized FitPartum™ was helping me when I was jumping on a trampoline with my toddler and nephews and didn’t have any leaking! Going through simple motions throughout the day were getting easier and I was feeling so much better about myself.

Kellie and Ally have been my saving graces getting me through my postpartum journey. I told them what I wanted out of my FitPartum™  journey and they delivered that and so much more. Some days with them I felt like they could read my mind as to what I was feeling and wanting out of my new post baby body and life. They very clearly consulted together on my individual progress, strengths and weaknesses to make sure that I got all the benefits in an individual and safe manner from both a physical therapy and strength training perspective. I am now continuing my exercise journey at KFIT in the group classes. My experience in class has been just as positive, as the KFIT coaches make sure that I am set up with a workout similar to others except a little bit manipulated to be tailored to my individual needs as I am still 5 months PP and need to still ease into certain movements. The team at FitPartum™ has made me feel important. They have also taught me that no matter how far my journey may be  to get into the shape that I want to get into that I absolutely can do it!
